Good afternoon! My name is Sergei, I recently received a kit Masamune OC & CC. Order number #12529 from november 24, 2021. I have a set from earlier batches, I compared them and the results upset me. The new Masamune kit is in use 7 times, but it looks much worse than the old one.

The blade mark on the cap (it feels like it started to rust) is not wiped off by anything. After each shave, I disassemble the razor, wash and dry, pull out the blade and until the next shaving session, the blade is stored separately from the razor.
Do you think this is normal?

It's difficult to say by photos what is happening as we never saw that effect. Is that area getting a dark red color? could be that the coating there was not well applied?
In order for us to understand, could you please clean the razor with baking soda, a toothbrush, and water? If it will be rust contamination or grease caused by tallow soaps, should be removed with these tools.

I cleaned the new OC on your advice, it became a bit like my old CC stove. I didn't clean the new CC.

Since baking soda is an abrasive, will it damage the geometry of the razor?

Hey Sergey,
The new parts will become similar to the old color since the PVD coating changes slightly the color in the first usages. If you will apply water, you will see already that the parts will get darker.


Regarding the cap and where you see the spots is where you should clean with baking soda. No, geometry will not be changed.

The issue is probably only visual so if you would like, and if after the baking soda the spots will not disappear, we can send you a new cap and will ask you to send us back that one in order to understand what the problem is.
